ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES IN THIS ROLE:
  • Client relations (being a PPP, this meant a private entity SecureFuture, the prison operators Serco and the public Governmental body Department of Corrections).
  • Co-ordinating and managing the contract design review processes – for getting the design documentation approved by the clients using the online distribution system Aconex.
  • Setting up Aconex for the project and running training sessions / setting up process flowcharts for how documentation and mail types are used for the project. And later analysing these processes and adjusting / adapting them to streamline the documentation processes for the project.
  • Co-ordinating and managing the design deliverables according to the design and construction programme.
  • Writing the Operations and Maintenance Manuals for all buildings across the site.
  • Conducting inspections – ensuring the buildings have been built in accordance with the contract documentation.
  • Reviewing changes occurring due to site conditions, issues and developments and ensuring these are not in conflict with any approved contract documentation. And if necessary communicating these to the client.
  • Managing a package of works – notably the site wide prison signage. This entailed communicating daily with the signage sub-contractors and ensuring they are completing the work to programme and in accordance with the architect’s documentation and expectations.

  • Construction knowledge – able to read and understand construction drawings and processes.
  • Critical thinking – I have creative, analytical thought and problem-solving abilities and therefore am able to review a problem and devise an appropriate solution.
  • Work ethic and time management – I am accustomed to working to deadlines and multi-tasking. I am able to juggle my time and tasks appropriately.
  • Communication – Visually I am able to relate systems, processes and ideas in a clear and diagrammatic way. Verbally, through communicating with Consultants, Project Managers, and Sub-Contractors I have shown I can relate to many people with varying personalities and have proven a sense of leadership and respect.
  • Competence in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Aconex.
